Maersk has spent many years succeeding in the harshest and deepest drilling waters in the world. These experiences have made them determined to learn, improve, and develop better solutions to the challenges they face.
The main challenge for Maersk Drilling’s was to save time and increase efficiency for workers using Android phones for their daily work. They wanted to create a seamless Single Sign-On experience for their employees. The rigs are operated 24 hours, so employees work in shifts, and devices are shared by multiple users. The devices log out automatically and close all open sessions in the background after each shift, interrupting the workflow. The rigs are equipped with a local active directory to make sure users can authenticate even when the mobile connection is lost due to bad weather conditions.
The solution
Maersk Drilling has its own various applications to fulfill all the processes needed on the different rigs. So each user was prompted for their credentials for each application they launched on their Android phones. Android Enterprise natively does not support Kerberos Authentication, so therefore a Single Sign-on experience with their local active directories was not possible. Hypergate Authenticator solves those issues and enables Single Sign-on for all applications.
